Central Coast, Texas Tourist Attractions

Parks, Museums, Sightseeing, ...

The Central Coast is not "attraction-rich" in the way that large cities in Texas can be. Galleries are easy to find, as are small museums celebrating local history or art. The Center for the Arts and Science in Clute has a nicely broad scope and serves as a venue for live theater as well. But the real draw of the Central Coast is its untouched natural glory. The Aransas National Wildlife Refuge is famous all over the world as home to the largest Whooping Crane flock anywhere, and all the beaches are natural and clean, home to transient birds of all types and rich with coastal fish.

The Center for the Arts and Sciences is home to many things, as its name suggests. A museum of natural history is within its compound, as are classic performances of classic and local drama. The Brazosport Symphony Orchestra performs here and the Art League displays local work.

This is a massive aquarium that has several daily shows, including a surprising "Wild Flight Theater" among the more expected diver and dolphins shows. The U.S.S. Lexington was an aircraft carrier during World War II, famously known as the "Big Ghost," and rests today in the harbor as part of this museum. Tour the ship, tour the exhibits, and get an experience of a different sort with a show on the MEGA Theater or a run through the flight simulator...
