Description
The New Braunfels Museum of Art & Music is dedicated to inspiring, educating, and enriching the life of the public by deepening the understanding of the human experience through the collection, preservation, and exhibition of diverse cultural traditions focusing on folk art, craft, and the decorative arts of the South and West.In August 2000, the Board of Directors for the New Braunfels Museum of Art (NBMA) elected to transform and reorganize the museum to meet the challenges of the 21st century. The Trustees, for the purpose of establishing the NBMA, formed a new charter and mission. In 2002, the museum relocated to the Gruene Historic District and constructed a new exhibition facility on a bluff overlooking the Guadalupe River. Opened in 2003, the new facilities include a 9,800 square foot exhibition space, and a large gift store stocked with a unique variety of music, art and Texan items. The Museum is more than just a place to exhibit, it is a cultural resource center, which inspires, educates and enriches the community. One of the Museum's prime missions is to document the vast cultural, creative and folk traditions of Texas by digitally preserving and exhibiting folk art, visual art and decorative art and presenting and recording the music of Texas.
