El Paso embraces the idea of "border town" and puts its own spin on it. A city both very fun and very historic, El Paso preserves its past, treasures its natural side, but certainly isn't afraid to throw a fiesta. The lightbulb laden star in the Franklin Mountains is the largest of its kind in the world and Viva! El Paso is pure performance enthusiasm.
But that quieter side of El Paso should not be neglected. Hueco Tanks Historic Site is a significant pictograph and beautifully lonely. The Franklin Mountains can be explored for months and Guadalupe Mountains National Park is not far from here. You'll also want to explore the missions along the El Paso Mission Trail.
