Description
A popular spot for those who enjoy the outdoors, Caney Creek is located on the shores of Sam Rayburn Reservoir. Completed in 1966, this recreation area provides visitors with rustic charm surrounded by the pristine beauty of nature.
Whether in a recreation vehicle or tent camping, visitors have 54 sites to choose from, and each site has a level pad, picnic table, and campfire ring which can be used as a cooking grill. Many campsites are located near water. There are five camping loops - Hickory, Pine, and Elm.
Cold showers, drinking water, and toilet facilities are available within a short distance of each camping site. A waste/dump station is available for recreation vehicles. There are no sites with electrical hookups.
A large picnic shelter is located on the grounds and accommodates up to 50 people. Groups need to reserve the shelter in advance. An outdoor amphitheater seats up to 200 persons. Visitors can hike a self-guided half-mile trail and enjoy the sights and sounds of nature. In consideration of other visitors, no off-road vehicles may be ridden in the campground.
