Description

Located on the shores of Sam Rayburn Reservoir, Harvey Creek was completed in 1963. The area has a popular boat ramp which provides access to the lake even when water levels are low. Visitors can enjoy the tranquility of the forest at this quiet hideaway operated and maintained by San Augustine County. Whether in an RV or tent camping, visitors have 19 campsites to choose from, and each site has a level pad, picnic table and campfire ring which can be used as a cooking grill.

Portable toilets are available within a short distance of each camp site. There are no sites with electrical hookups. A waste/dump station is available for RVs at nearby Jackson Hill Park, a U.S. Army Corps of Engineers facility, for a fee of $4.00.

A picnic shelter is located on the grounds and accommodates up to 50 people. Groups need to reserve the shelter in advance by contacting San Augustine County at (936) 275-9472. In consideration of other visitors, no off-road vehicles may be ridden in the campground.
