Description

One of the best ways to "get back to nature" is to visit Sandy Creek, located on the shores of the Sam Rayburn Reservoir. Completed in 1963, this recreation area provides visitors with panoramic views of the lake.

Whether in an RV or tent camping, visitors have 15 sites to choose from, and each site has a level tent pad, picnic table and campfire ring which can be used as a cooking grill. There are two camping loops- Arrowwood and Buttonwood.

Drinking water and vault or chemical toilet facilities are available within a short distance of each camping site. There are no sites in the Sandy Creek Recreation Area that offer electrical hookups.

A picnic shelter is located on the grounds near the water, accommodating up to 50 people. A covered group camping area is also available. It accommodates up to 25 persons and 4 vehicles. Both are available on a first come, first served basis.

Visitors can also hike along the shore and observe a variety of birds and other wildlife. In consideration of other visitors, off-road vehicles are prohibited in the campground or picnic areas. Sandy Creek Fees
