Amarillo is a blustery place much of the year and the temperatures can swing from warmer to cooler depending on currents in the air. Sometimes, in the winter, blizzards even occur, and spring is not the best time to visit either. Summers are less windy and although they can be hot, they're certainly not as sweltering as some other areas of Texas. They're also the rainiest time of the year and summer nights are often pleasantly cool.
