Austin is humid and subtropical. Its summers can be sweltering, but Austin is close to so many streams and lakes that there's always somewhere to cool off. In contrast, Austin's winters are very mild and temperatures rarely dip below freezing. Spring can be wet and stormy, but for those who want to avoid the worst of the heat and the worst of the rain, visiting Austin in the fall is a nice middle ground.
