Surrounded by the Chihuahuan Desert as it is, El Paso's climate is very dry and very hot, but very sunny, so sunny that El Paso can hold the title "The Sun City" without any trouble. The air has almost no humidity to speak of, which prevents the high temperatures from becoming too fierce. Winters are extremely mild and even though the Franklin Mountains are partly contained within the city, there's rarely snow on them.
