Gentle winters, hot summers tend to be the hallmark of Texas's subtropical cities and Fort Worth is no different, if like many subtropical cities, there's enough open water that relief from the heat isn't hard to find. The best times to visit Fort Worth (and Dallas) are in the spring and the fall, when the temperatures are mild. Spring also brings out the Texas wildflowers, if it's also the stormiest season.
